Compare telematics by data, safety workflow and commercial fit—not GPS tracking alone.

Modern fleet telematics can span ELD, video, maintenance data, fuel, routing and integrations. The right platform depends on which of those functions must live in one stack.

Telematics is not a TMS

Telematics platforms primarily collect and operationalize vehicle, driver and asset data. A TMS primarily manages freight, dispatch and back-office transportation workflows. Many trucking companies need both, which makes integration quality as important as feature count.

Five questions to answer first.

  1. Is HOS/ELD required in the same platform?
  2. Do cameras and coaching need to share the telematics data model?
  3. Which OEM or aftermarket hardware is required?
  4. Can the platform integrate cleanly with your TMS, maintenance and fuel systems?
  5. What are the minimum vehicle commitments, contract term and replacement rules?
